Introduction

Licorice or Mulahthi or Mulethi is a shrubby plant. Its scientific name is Glycyrrhiza glabra. It is called Madhuyasthi in Sanskrit, Jashtimadhu in Bengali, Irattimadhuram in Malayalam, and Atimadhamuram in Tamil. It has pink and purple flowers. Its fruits are long, flat and thorny.
